Newsroom Awards: AAJA’s 2023 Journalism Excellence Awards

Congratulations to Jasen Lo and Juliana Feliciano Reyes, whose interactive package “Doug Mastriano was live” has won an Immersive Storytelling Award in Online/Digital Journalism, part of AAJA’s 2023 Journalism Excellence Awards. The collaboration between the Interactives and Investigations teams scraped Facebook data and uniquely presented the story in a format that matched a Facebook Live event. Bill Bender, Chris Williams, and Sam Morris also contributed valuable reporting, design, and data pipeline development to the project.

The AAJA Journalism Excellence Awards honor outstanding work in all forms of journalism: written, audio, video, online/multimedia, photojournalism, and student works. Winners were announced during Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and they will be recognized at AAJA’s national convention in Washington, D.C. on July 22.

Please join us in congratulating Jasen and Juliana for their award.
